External data sources like these generally provide the user with the place name, event name, date, and location of the event. Users can even buy their tickets directly from the event item when you provide a valid URL. The event information is always up to date as the app pulls the data from the server every time users open the Events Feature in the App.

On iOS devices, the Events list is automatically divided into two groups; one that displays upcoming events and one that displays past events. Android devices show the a list containing both Upcoming and Past events in the same screen.

Upon purchase of a DIY AppDesigner subscription, you will need to fill in an Activation Form prior to your App being published to Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. Depending on the external data source you have selected, the Activation form will ask for:

  • Facebook: Facebook Page URL
  • Google Calendar: Google Calendar ID
  • Meetup: Meetup Group Name
  • Eventful: Eventful Performer Name
  • Band in Town: Band in Town URL

NOTE: DIY AppDesigner will load events in the span of one year. This means that events scheduled six months before the current date and six months after the current date will be shown in this block.

Once the information has been provided , you will not be able to make changes to this feature once it has been published (content will not be available in the Content Management System).
